Plenten heroes

Connie,

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Bonnie had it all - a wicked smart brain, a gentle soft heart and a gutsy, courageous will. I can't imagine what these days must be like for you. I think of you often and send warm, healing thoughts.

I'm writing to you here on the blog because I also want to let you know that you and Bonnie will forever be my "plenten heroes". The way you travelled the journey was inspiring and humbling. You stood so tall, moved with full grace and summoned such grit. In so many ways I am in awe.

I want to be sure you know that you have provided a very valuable gift to many of us - evidence that we can rise above heart wrenching agony and continue to taste our lives. This has changed things for me.

I send my prayers every morning to Bonnie. I send you my warm thoughts, deep gratitude for the rare gift you have given us and wishes for solace and comfort amid the pain.

Much love,

Susan

Sunny Bunny Makes the Team

(Story filed by Elizabeth E.)

Sunny Bunny reporting here; just back from the Women’s Hockey World Championship in Switzerland.

I tried to make this Canadian practice but was a bit short for the team. They also seemed to think my stick was a little long given my height. But as you can see I have my helmet on and was ready to go.

I have to admit I wasn’t really paying much attention to the coach; scheesh I was facing the camera; PROMOTION – PEOPLE!!!  that is what this game needs.  That is what I am here for…a little help here. Are they deaf?

Well the good news is I was made an Alternate Captain for the Major Junior Bunny team which I guess is starting next year. They were all pretty vague about the team; go figure. I did ask if black cats could play in goal for the MJ league and they all just nodded and said “sure, sure; no problem.” It was like they were embarrassed or something.

Alright I have to go. Don’t tell anyone but I am celebrating with the Americans. They won and they have the champagne. I do have my standards you know.

Go USA.

Sunny Bunny hits the course

Happy Easter weekend all. If the weather is nice in Toronto it might be an idea to get Sunny Bunny out into the backyard for a little exercise and get the competitive juices flowing. Only in Canada. They don't let rabbits do this in the US for fear of a law suit. Good luck Sunny!

Sometimes You Gotta Sing

This is an 'unplugged' recording performed by some of your favorite singers....er, some of your favorite people, singing:

And, confidentially, there was a little wine involved.  Good for loosening the vocal chords.

Come on EveryBunny!  Sing Along!!

Bricolage: Bunny Finger Puppets

The term bricolage means: to make do with what is at hand.

And speaking of hands, I hurt mine the other day and had to get some stitches. Ow!

But, what an opportunity!  I now have an Easter Bunny finger puppet at the end of my thumb.

You can all do this yourself without cutting up your thumb.  Just buy first-aid tape and wrap it around your finger.  Take a marker and draw a cheery bunny face.  Attach some ears and, well, "Bunny's your uncle!"

A MESSAGE FROM THE QUEEN

My dear Subjects, a most happy and indulgent Plenten Season to you all.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind each of us of our duty and responsibility to seek out Plenten opportunities for pleasure.

One of Our Plenten enjoyments has been to explore Our inner wench.
Who knew consorting and romping could be such rollicking super fun?  And how blessed We are in finding this frisky minx with the awesome fashion sense to frolic with.

While it is true Our salad and vegetable days are behind Us, We are happily embracing Our dessert days in this season of Plentis Mirabilis.
Let Us raise our Blue Basils and toast to Plentitudenicities.

As We say at the Scott Cartoon Corporate meetings…
“Up Your Skirts!”

Peep Peep

Soon the grocery shelves will be brimming with my favorite Plenten treat: Marshmallow Peeps.

I love their chewy goodness and like them even better when they are stale.  But they are more than a food product.  They are also ART!

Here is a tribute to the Stanley Cup...

And an homage to one of the most moving films in recent  times, March of the Peeps...

And, finally, Downward Facing Peeps...

Mmmmm....I'm, curiously, craving a little sugar!

THE BUNNY INTERVIEWS

Our panel has been asked for their thoughts and feelings about the recent appointment of Sunny as this years Feaster Bunny.

Sunny Bunny

I’m deeply honoured and will to the best of my abilities foster world peace and deliver every last #@*$% egg on time.

   Bugs

I’m a big fan of Sunny.  He’s totally cool and a great role model.  This important position is in good paws.

 Peter Cottontail

Sonny’s a great choice.  Not at all snooty about his appointment.  Just a down to earth kinda guy.  Still likes to hang at McGregor’s garden with us regulars.

Energizer Bunny

Sunny’s a little laid back.  How is he ever going to make all those Feaster Deliveries?  You need someone with high energy, that go go go spirit… like me….  And what’s with those sad sack droopy ears?

Playboy Bunny

Oh, hadn’t heard the news.  I’ve been a little busy at the U of Vic campus, if you know what I mean. Heh heh. Someone’s got to procreate.  Work, work, work. It never ends.

Half way there!

Hurray for us!!! For 20 days we've dodged any and all temptations to deprive ourselves and have made it to the halfway mark of the plenten season! Congrats everyone! It's not too late for each of us to redouble our plenten resolve and choose one additional vice or indulgence to feed over the remaining 20 days. Any takers?

Heads up Merlot!

Sounds like one of your Moms thinks cats should steer clear of vacuums. Looks like you need to ask her to buy you a roomba for Plent!!!

REUTERS BREAKING NEWS....

The Poultry Science Institute has just released a major scientific breakthrough in an avian genetic pro-nuclear micro-injection engineering project which has resulted in the radical altering of the genetic code (DNA) and phenotype of laying hens.

The genetic alteration will also be present in the germ line cells, so that the changes can be passed on from generation to generation.  In the experiment, avian photon spectrum retroviral vectors were used to introduce a recombinant neomycin-spectral gene into chicken embryos before and during incubation.  The eggs produced matched the hen’s genetically modified new colourings and patterning perfectly.

This has a huge potential impact for Feaster Egg production. No more painting complicated designs on countless Feaster Eggs.

Dear Sunny B.

Sorry to hear about your ear trauma.

Wish I’d known about Blue Basils after my “incident” with the vacuum.  You know how mommies can get cleaning up before you’ve had every scrap of kibble. Well don’t tussle with the vacuum.  It always wins.

The swelling has gone down quite a bit since this picture, but my sniffer is still quite tender.
Another Blue Basil please!
Any hoo, other than that, Plent is going well.  It’s my favourite thing; well that and walking, oh.. and plums, and chasing squirrels, and dinner time, and…..

P.S. And let those among us who haven’t had their nose stuck in a vacuum hose cast the first stone at the glass house.

Burning the Candle at Both Ends

Susan and I are currently in Rio de Janeiro where we are striving to keep up with the samba/caipirinha/sun worshiping culture...all this while Susan is delivering a top-notch program for her client.  Frankly, it feels a little like this:

But fear not!  We are carrying on in true Plenten tradition.  Let it not be said that we are not celebratory!  We SHALL burn the candle at both ends ('tho it does look uncomfortable...)

Missive from Connie

While we were in Mexico S.B. found the perfect Plenten drink, the Blue Basil.

Here is the recipe:

1.5 oz vodka
1/4 oz cassis liquor
2 large basil leaves
8 - 10 bluberries
1/4 oz lime or lemon juice
Muddle the above in a tall drink glass then add
your favorite combination of club soda and/or sprite to fill the glass.
Enjoy.

p.s. Drinking several Blue Basils is of course how one gets over trying to tie ones ears a la Martha.

A CAUTIONARY NOTE….

Don’t tamper with what nature gave ya.

I was tired of being floppy....

Then I  saw those hot look’n upright may I say erect, bunny ears ! Who wouldn't want to look like that ?

Thank you Martha – it looked like a good idea. Now I’ve got serious ear cramps and may have to have the knots cut.  Hope this incident won’t affect my Feaster duties.
Anyway, big ouch.  Will let you know how it all turns out.
S.B.

Thinking of the legal beagles with love and admiration

And wrote an ode to jury duty (was thankfully released from same last week)

Not a single cutey
Waiting for jury duty
Scanned the hundreds of faces
Sitting quietly in their places
All eavesdropping on one conversation
Craving a strong libation
Digested each restaurant in Toronto Life
And was poised with virtual fork and knife
For a fabulous steak dinner
This process won't make me thinner
Remembering to do my kugle
And lamenting the loss of google
Dreaming of books and scrabble
While hanging with fellow rabble
Imagining many better ways
To kill the hours and days ...

Plenty of Partying running you down?????

The Art of Napping….
Plent can be a tiring business.  Frequent naps help to sustain stamina and restore zest.
The following panel of experts has kindly offered up their tips for the perfect nap.

The Deep Doze
This is my fav.  I find it works best if I bulk up on berries, campers or picnickers for a couple of weeks in the fall and then find a cozy den.  I can nod right off and somehow my inner alarm gets me up and good to go come spring.  The key is to really pack in the fruit, carbs and proteins before dozing off.

The Cat Nap
My preference is a series of short but frequent “cat” naps- often up to a combined 18 hours during the dawn, day and dusk.  Somewhere warm and comfy.  Of course in between naps I snack and demand treats.  This gives me the energy to be up all night partying, tearing around the house and jumping on my humans while they try to sleep.

The Power Nap
Now this is a real art.  It requires the ability to drop off in the midst of whatever and where ever.  It may require relentless practice but you’ll be rewarded in the end.  Like the cat nap, it is usually of short duration and is the pause in a busy day that totally refreshes.
